Any gender and above four months. 4 months is an ideal time as it gives little earlobes time to grow, thus providing a better opportunity for proper earring placement. Infants: Please have vaccination records available at the appointment.

Minors: All persons under the age of 18 must have parental consent signed, and a parent must be present at the time of piercing along with valid ID documentation for both parent and child (driver’s license or birth certificate if under 16).

It is advised to get clearance from your Primary Care Provider before a piercing with the following: Diabetes, hemophilia, autoimmune disease, on blood thinners, heart conditions, history of keloids, and conditions that slow or prevent healing.

Please wait at least a week before swimming in a chlorinated pool. At least two weeks before swimming in rivers, lakes, or ponds. Piercings need to be cleaned immediately after swimming in any body of water to reduce the risk of infection.

Although everyone heals differently. Generally, ear lobe piercings can be changed after 6 weeks, and cartilage/helix can be changed after 12 weeks. Earrings should be kept in ears consistently for a year (switching out whenever you like) for the piercing to fully heal and the piercing hole to not close.

I offer needle and handheld device piercing. While the piercing device looks similar, it is very different. I use piercing materials made only available to healthcare professionals. Everything that comes into contact with your skin during your piercing is disposed of immediately after your piercing. The sharp, needle-like piercing stud is housed in a sterile, one-time-use disposable cassette. The ear is pierced in one smooth, quick motion. For everyone’s safety, I do not use needles on infants or children who are unable to sit still for the sterile procedure. Every client and situation is different, so we work together (client and I) to find the safest piercing method for them.

The piercing studs are hypoallergenic, 0% nickel, medical grade plastic or implant grade titanium. The studs are specially designed for optimal healing. Longer posts are designed to allow air to circulate around the new piercing, therefore, helping it heal better. It is designed with slightly thicker posts, so the holes will be slightly wider in the beginning. This prevents the lobes from getting easily damaged when you or your child change earrings after the healing period.

Maybe a little. Most describe it as a quick pinch followed by a warm throbbing sensation (like when you have your blood pressure taken) that goes away within a few minutes.

No, you cannot. They should be discarded. Piercing earrings are specifically made to be used just for piercing and the healing time.

• Wash hands with soap and water before touching or cleaning your piercing
• Wash newly pierced ears (on both sides) thoroughly twice a day. Cleanse with liquid soap and running water. Supplement with aftercare wipes/saline spray as needed. 6 Weeks (Lobes) 12 Weeks (Helix)
• Do not use alcohol or peroxide to clean the piercing
• Do not pull on your earrings when cleaning your new piercings

• Do take extra care when changing earrings. The skin that has grown within the holes is still delicate. If you use earrings with earring backs, these should not be pressed tightly against the back of the ear.
• Do avoid nicotine as it is a vasoconstrictor. The chemicals in cigarettes and e-cigs/vape pens are caustic and will delay healing, increase swelling, and increase the risk of infection.
• Do clean phones, headphones, glasses, helmets, and other things that go on or around the ears regularly.
• Do make sure the bedding is clean. This is especially important if you have pets that sleep in your bed.
• Do keep in mind that stress, poor diet, drug use, or illness can cause extended healing times or other difficulties.
• Do take caution when washing or drying your face. Piercings are easily pulled.
• Do contact a physician or myself right away if you feel your piercing is infected. I am happy to give suggestions based on our experience. Remember that some redness, tenderness, swelling, and light discharge are normal.

• Don't touch your piercing except when you are cleaning it.
• Don't use antibacterial soaps, alcohol, peroxide, or similar chemicals unless directed by a physician.
• Don't clean your piercing more often than suggested, as over-cleaning can slow the healing process and cause more harm than good.
• Don't sleep with wet hair. Warm and wet is an excellent environment to breed bacteria that can cause infection.
